7A - Testing the Hypothesis

The opportunity I would like to pursue is having a subscription program for plants. People would be ships plants on a monthly base. The Who is people who have a interest in having plants at there house. The what is plants are hard to take care of for a long period of time. The why is plants require fertilizing and watering.

My hypothesis is people want plants delivered to them monthly through a subscription.

Testing The Who
I believe there are a large number of people who have this need to be delivered new plants to there house monthly. Everyone in my current who shares the need to have new plants. However maybe they would rather go pick out the plants on there own. The people in the current who may also want plants during the spring or summer when it is not to cold for plants to survive.

Testing the What
Does everyone want the same plants? Will people only want plants during certain periods of the year? How many plants do people want delivered to them? Do they want different types of plants delivered each month or all the same type?

Testing the Why
The why I identified does not apply to everyone. It differs on who the people are. Some take care of their plants more than others. However even if they do take care of there plants they still may want new plants shipped to them monthly.

Would you want the plants delivered year around? " Yeah if I did have a subscription I would like to have plants brought to be all year."

Why would you want the monthly subscription? " I would want a monthly subscription just so I wouldn't have to take care of my plants on my patio. If they die I would just replace with the new ones sent to me"

I found that many people would be interested in a subscription. Some people said they wouldn't be interested because they did really care about the plants at there house much. People who did like plants loved the idea of having a subscription. They would be able to see a variety of plants and test ones that work well for them. I know from the interviews that everyone would want the subscription year around.

6A - Identifying Opportunities in Trends

Opportunity 1

I believe there is a opportunity for a subscription program for plants. I found this opportunity in many households. Most houses have a couple pants in pots on the front porch or a plant in the house. Most of the time these plants look awful because people do not know how to take care of them. People want new plants in there house but often they forget to go to the store and buy some. If people could get new plants sent to them monthly through a subscription. This way people do not have to worry about taking care of the plants because they will be getting new ones in the mail each month. The potential customer for this product would be anyone who has plants at there house whether this be inside, on the patio or porch. People who be able to get a variety of plants and see which ones live best at there house. Also they would be able to discover new plants that they may not have even knew existed. This opportunity is easy, the concept is simple. I would create a subscription program to ship people new plants each month. I saw this opportunity from my own house. On my front porch I always have two plants by the door. Over time these plants begin to look over grown and dead. I always think that fresh plants look the best, so if there was a way for me just to get shipped plants monthly it would keep my front porch looking good.

I see a opportunity with carbon footprints. Carbon footprints are complicated and often can be inaccurate. While it is easy to calculate how much carbon you are putting into the air, it can be difficult to find ways in your life to lessen it. I believe there there is a opportunity to have a company "audit" your life and see ways in which you are using carbon. It doesn't have to be complicated, just let people know ways in which they are using carbon in there daily ways. This company could provide solutions on how to reduce carbon specific to a person life. A prototypical customer would be people who want to save money and reduce there carbon foot print. I believe it is relatively easy to exploit this idea. It just takes one person to be able to audit people lives and it can expand from there. I thought of this idea just because whenever I would do my carbon foot prints, I was overwhelmed with just how much there was to it. I wanted to reduce my carbon foot print, however I just couldn't find many ways specific to my life.



Opportunity 3

I believe there is a opportunity to create a something that entertains dogs without people having to play with them. People lives are busier than ever. Many people get dogs and would love to give them the attention they need. However with dogs wanting constant attention and humans being busy with there lives. There is a need for a product to entertain dogs. The toy would be a product that throws balls for dogs, and once the dog drops the ball back off at the launcher, it would re throw the ball for the dog. I believe that the prototypical customer would be anyone who feels that there dog needs more attention or entertainment. Dogs could get entertainment without people having to play fetch with them. The opportunity is relatively easy once the product is developed. It is a simple product however just something that can automatically launch balls for dogs. I felt the opportunity exist from my experience with dogs. I always get caught up in my day to day life and I want to give them attention. However sometimes I just forget too. I saw the opportunity to provide something for dogs that entertains them without people having to be there.

Opportunity 4

I believe a opportunity exist for a app that connects you with people of simpler interests or hobbies. This is not a dating app. This app is to connect you to people to become friends and do stuff with.  I believe a opportunity exist since people are now using there phones to socialize rather than going out and meeting people. This allows you to find people whom you can do stuff with. I believe the likely customer for this app is anyone who has a hobby or is looking to hang out with people. This idea is relatively easy to exploit. All it takes it good branding of the app and getting out to people on a large scale. I saw this opportunity just from listening to friends who want to find people to hang out with doing similar things. May other people see flaws in this idea. I saw a opportunity for this in my interest to fish. I always want to go fishing with people, it is just hard meeting people who like to do similar fishing.

Since the pythons are invasive they have no predators in the wild. This makes there population grow rapidly. The people who have this problem are the ones who live in South Florida. It is a problem for people of South Florida because Burmese pythons may go into there yards or houses. Also the people who have this issue is anyone who visits the Everglades. It is a problem for people visiting the Everglades since the quality of there visit may be declined. It may be declined due to the lack of native animals in the Everglades causes by the pythons eating them.

Many residents thought that spring break in Miami Beach was already to hectic and having Ultra there would just make it worse. Most residents do not enjoy having a load of tourist in there city. The problem this article presents is having the music festival in Miami Beach. Some people believe it would be great for the business to make money during this week. While others argue that it would make Miami Beach way to busy and overcrowd it for the week. The people who have this problem is people who attend Ultra Music Festival as they may want it to be in Miami Beach. Business owners in Miami Beach may see this as a problem also since this is a missed opportunity for extra business during this week. Also the residents see Ultra Music Festival as a problem since they wouldn't get benefit from the festival if they are not attending it.

The problem presented in this story is that Gillette razors had a production issue and made faulty razors in which cut people. The people who have this issue is any Gillette customer. Most customers had to check and make sure that there was not a recall on there razors. The people who do have a faulty razor have to go through the hassle of calling and getting a refund for the issue. This is also a issue for Gillette since they sold people faulty razors. This may ruin the brand reputability. People may resort to other brands who do not have recalls.

However in the recent decades the winter has not been as long. So cherry farmers have to deal with fruit flies for a longer period of time. On the other hand chick pea farmers are having longer seasons due to warmer weather. Which enables them to grow more crops and have more profitable years. The problem presented in this story is that some farmers are dealing with more threats caused from climate change. Farmers who have this problem are ones who experience any negative affects due to climate change.

This has been a big issue as dolphin do not know to not eat plastic. They are unable to digest plastic so it eventually ends up killing the dolphins. The problem presented in this story is that dolphins are being killed from humans littering in the oceans. Dolphins and humans are the ones who have to deal this issue. Dolphins are being killed by the plastic. Humans also have to deal with problem because to stop it they have to control there plastic littering. 

4A Forming an Opportunity Belief

Yes I have believe that there is a opportunity to make something that goes in between the seat of your car and the console to prevent stuff from falling in between them. 

The unmet need is that cars have a small gap in between the center console and the seat. Often times this area is only big enough for your phone or other things to fall through. The issue is that your hand has a hard timing getting into the small gap to grab what has fallen. Most car owners have this need if they have experience things falling in gap in between the seat and console. I believe most people are not doing anything to meet this need. I believe that there is a 70% chance a opportunity exist for this. 

The Prototypical customer is anyone who has a car and has experience something falling in between there seat and console.

Customer 1

This customer is a female and drives a Honda Civic. They become aware of the need when they dropped there credit card in between the seat and console. They could not reach or see the credit card and had to go park and look under the seat to find it. She has had the need ever since she has been in a car. She first became aware of the need when she dropped her phone in this crack. She never thought about coming up with a solution. She is not addressing the need.

Customer 2

This customer is a male and drives a Ford F150. The nature of there need is something is prevent things from falling in the gap between there seat. He experiences the need only sometimes. It just depends if he drops something there or something falls. He becomes aware of this need when something falls in the gap and he can not grab it. They have always had a need for this but they never did anything about it. He does not address the issue. He said he can normally grab whatever falls without to much trouble, however it is still annoying to do. He is not satisfied with struggling to grab what has fallen between his seat and console.

Customer 3

This customer is a male and drives a Jeep. He experiences this issue a lot of times. He said his car has a lot of things in it and is a mess. It is almost a everyday occurrence that a item falls in between this gap. He has always had this issue with his cars, it happens more in his jeep than other car he owns. They first became aware of this when something fell in the gap and he couldn't get it out until he got home. There solution was they place a rag in the gap which stopped stuff from falling all the way in the crack. He said the issue was this was sometimes the rag would fall in the gap. So sometimes the solution was useless.

I learned that there is great opportunity for my need. I was surprised to learn that everyone has experienced this issue for a long time, however they never did anything about it. I thought it was interesting also how this issue happened more in certain cars than others. After these interviews I think this issue occurs more to some people than others just depends

 Yes, the original opportunity is still there. Nobody had a real solution to the issue yet. The 3rd interview had a solution however it did not always work. Yes I believe the opportunity is more accurate. In my interviews I saw the different needs of customers for this issue. Some customers need it more than others. I believe that entrepreneurs should be open to adapting their opportunities based on customer feedback. It can be helpful to hear what are the positives and negatives of your idea. I think by taking feedback lightly though is helpful because what might be negative to one customer, other customers might not have a issue with.

3A- Your Entrepreneurship Story

      I have been exposed to entrepreneurs since I can remember. My Grandpa and Dad are both entrepreneurs. They both own there own companies. My Grandpa owns a tree farm and orchid company. He sells trees to landscapers and orchids to the public. My Dad owns a foliage nursery and grows plants for garden centers. Being around my Grandpa and Dad has always made me have interest in entrepreneurs seeing what it takes to be one. The reason I enrolled in ENT 3003 is because I wanted to learn more about entrepreneurs and how to become a successful one. One day I would like to become a entrepreneur and I hope the knowledge I learn in this class can help me do that.

2A Buglist

1. When you wake up in the morning and your room is cold. It makes it hard to get out of your warm bed because it is freezing.

It exist because if the AC is cold when you go to bed you will wake up with it cold if nobody changes it.

2. When you forget to take laundry out of dryer and clothes become wrinkled. You have to then iron your clothes or wait for them to de wrinkle.

This happens because the clothes stayed in the dryer and are no longer warm. So they become wrinkled.

3. No where to put your trash in your car. Trash often will build up in your car leaving it look like a trash can.

Cars do not have a trash can in them so you have empty bottles and food bags left in your car everywhere if you do not take them out.

4.  When sunglass lenses get scratched if you drop them. This ruins your sunglasses and makes them less desirable.

Most sunglasses lenses scratch or shattered easily. This can be annoying if they get scratched they are ruined.

5. When your room is dark in morning so you fall back asleep. I can never get out of bed when it is still dark.

Since no one turns on the light in the morning, your room is left dark therefore making you sleep in even later than you wanted. This can make it hard to wake up.

6. When the food line moves slowly and takes a long time. This often makes me late to class.

This is a bug because you waste time waiting in line in which you did not think would take that long.

7. When you forget to turn off tv when you fall asleep. If the tv is left on I get a bad night of sleep.

If your tv is left on while you sleep it can be hard to get a goodnight sleep. Some tv do not have a feature where it turns off with inactivity.

8. How sunscreen makes you look pasty and does not rub in. This leaves you looking like a tourist with sunscreen all over you.

This exist because sunscreen is not able to rub in. Maybe if they make a clear sunscreen so it doesn't give your skin a pasty look.

9. When hat blows off if you are going fast on boat. People lose many hats because they fly off on the boat.

This exist because there is no way for a hat to secure to your head.

10. When you get sand or dirt gets in your car. This makes your car really dirty inside and is a pain to clean.

This exist because there is no where to wipe your feet off before stepping in your car.

11. How stuff falls in between your seat in car and the console. It is hard to drive and try to squeeze your hand inside a tiny crack.

This exist because there is not anything that blocks things from falling into this little area

12. When you stub your toe on the corner of a doorway. This can be very painful.

Since door ways are not rounded it can hurt a-lot if you hit your toe on the sharp edge of one.

13. How gum doesn't last long. It seems pointless when your gum goes bad after five minutes.

The flavor of gum runs out quickly leaving you with a dull tasting piece of gum in your mouth.

14. When you can not find the isle of something in the grocery store. Your trip to the grocery store could take lot less time if you knew where everything was.

Grocery stores are big and it can be hard to find where a certain item is at.

15. When it rains on campus and you do not have umbrella. If you do not have a umbrella you show up to your next class wet.

You only get stuck in the rain a few times during the year. So carrying a umbrella everyday does not seem important

16. When you forget to check weather for the day and you go outside and it is cold.

When you go outside you do not know if it will be hot or cold unless you check the weather before hand

17. When the gps does not accurately account for traffic when you travel. This often makes you late to places you thought you would be on time too.

This exist because it is difficult for a gps to know exactly what type of traffic you make get into.

18. When chips get stale because they do not have a easy way to reseal them.

This exist because once you open a bag there is no way to close it properly

19. When your phone dies and you do not have a charger.

This exist because normally you do not carry a charger around with you. So your left without one.

20. When gas pumps, pump gas slowly.

This exist because some gas station have older pumps which pump gas at a slower rate.


I found this it to be difficult to come up with 20 things on a bug list. The first five were easy, then it became harder to think of stuff for my bug list. What was also hard about this was to come up with why bugs exist. This made me have to think from a different perspective and see why these things were actually a bug.
